Tips for Your Move-In Day at Heather Park

Moving day can be hectic, so here are a few tips to remember.

TIME WARNER CABLE

Time Warner Cable
Be sure to be there on the day you're scheduled to have your service connected. If you are not, the technician will leave and re-reschedule your appointment for a later date.

If you have used the Heather Park Apartments community representative, Lavette, to set up and schedule your service, you will get great personal customer service!
Get ready for great customer care if you give her a call! Ask us for more details.

HOT WATER HEATER

When entering your apartment for the first time, check to see if you have hot water in the apartment. If you do not, locate your breaker box and flip the breaker switch for your water heater to the ON position.

US POSTAL MAILBOX

Locate your mailbox as soon as you have a moment, and be sure your key is functional.
Be sure you've put a change of address card into your previous Post Office so that you begin getting the mail to your new address.

NOTE: The postal service will not bring your packages to the office. They will be left at your door if not home.

Be sure to check your mailbox throughout the week! If mail is left in your box for more than 7 days, the postal service will remove all mail and return it to the sender.
--------------

It is always appreciated if any mail or a parcel that is delivered by the US Postal Service, which doesn't belong to you, is brought to the office. We are happy to call the previous (or current) resident to inform them their mail is here, or we will return it as needed. If they fit, these items can be dropped into our drop box after hours.

DISHWASHER

If your dishwasher is not working, be sure to turn the switch on the wall into the ON position.
This is a childproof switch.

VINYL DECALS

DO NOT use vinyl wall decals on your apartment walls.
These stickers do not come off easily, sometimes not at all, and can leave a sticky residue behind.
There are many websites available that offer vinyl decals which are removable! Check them out!

PACKAGE ACCEPTANCE

We accept packages in the office as a courtesy to our residents.
When you receive a ticket in your postal box, or on your door, be sure to look at it carefully to be sure it isn't alerting you to a re-delivery or return.
Feel free to call the office anytime and we'll be happy to look and see if you've received a package.
Please remember that the office is not responsible for packages!

TRASH & RECYCLING

After you've moved in, you may break down your cardboard boxes and put them into our trash compactor located on-site. The boxes must be broken down completely!
Any BULK items larger than a standard bag of trash can must be brought to a local convenience center. These facilities also accept all of your RECYCLING.

OUTLETS IN YOUR APARTMENT

Please note that the light switches located on the wall in each room of your apartment have different functions. One switch will operate the ceiling fixture and one switch will operate 1 wall outlet. The other outlets on the wall will work regardless of whether or not a light switch on.

LIGHTING FIXTURES and CEILING FANS
The living rooms and bedrooms in the apartments at Heather Park do not come with standard equipped lighting or fan fixtures. All residents can change out fixtures per room, per their taste. Any fixture changed or installed is required to be left with the apartment.

RECREATIONAL PARKING - TRAILERS & BOATS

We have a designated area at Heather Park for parking your boats, trailers and recreational vehicles.
This parking area is located on Savannah Chase Circle. Please ask for details.
There are some vehicles that cannot be parked in the community parking lots. If the vehicle does not fit into a parking space, it cannot be parked in the community.
This includes 18 wheeler truck cabs or trailers.

POD PARKING
We do not mind if a POD, or anything similar, is used. It must fit into a standard parking space. If it will be for more than 1 night, we may allow it as long as it's approved by the office. Always inform the office if you will be parking a pod in the parking lot.
